An NYPD cop allegedly hit a suspect with a police radio and lied a few patrol automobile which struck and injured a motorist, in keeping with the Bronx District Legal professional’s workplace.
Officer Kenny Victoria, 34, who was assigned to the forty fourth Precinct stationhouse within the South Bronx, was hit with two separate indictments, prosecutors mentioned.
Victoria, a nine-year NYPD veteran, was a passenger in a patrol automobile that crashed in to a motorcyclist Dec. 16 close to Monroe Avenue and East 173rd St., leaving the rider injured, authorities mentioned.
Video surveillance confirmed the cop automobile accelerated and was the motorcyclist as he was getting into an intersection, prosecutors mentioned.
Victoria allegedly later filed a report claiming the motorcyclist, who was arrested on reckless endangerment and legal mischief prices, was “doing a wheelie” and drove into the police automobile.
On April 30, close to 311 East a hundred and seventieth St., Victoria responded to a name of a person with a gun, and later slammed his police radio on the suspect’s head, the DA mentioned.
“The defendant allegedly lied about a police car accident that injured a motorist to cover up for the officer who was driving, and four months later the defendant allegedly struck a suspect on the head with his radio,” Bronx District Legal professional Darcel D. Clark introduced Friday.
She known as Victoria’s alleged actions “a betrayal of public trust.”
Victoria was charged in a single indictment with tried providing a false instrument
within the first diploma, second-degree providing a false Instrument for submitting, second-degree falsifying
enterprise Data, and official misconduct, prosecutors mentioned.
Within the second indictment, Victoria was charged with second-degree assault; third-degree assault and official misconduct, in keeping with the investigation.
Victoria was launched with out bail following his arraignment on the 2 indictments Friday.
“Police Officer Victoria has gone above and beyond in protecting the citizens of New York. We are confident that at trial, the truth will emerge and PO Victoria will be exonerated of any wrongdoing,” Victoria’s lawyer, Todd Spodek, advised The Put up.
